Thus
begins the second phase of this season's planetary orbit for Alpha. Experimenting
with the resonant frequencies of the GATE this month are six fine exo-archaeological
crews, representing the local concentration of sonic diversity.
ELTRO
[From
A.D. Amorosi's article in the City Paper]:
Dense
distorted noise spun into elegant musical incantation. That's the misty
alchemy behind Eltro's second CD Velodrome (Schizophonic/ Emusic). For
those of you coming late to Eltro - cool calculated vocalist/bassist Diana
Prescott, guitarist/singer Jorge "The Great" Sandrini, scattered skittish
drummer Ted Johnson, cheap electronic layering expert Rick Henderson -
the unit's made lush, lo-tech ambient pop since 1996.

THE
GREAT QUENTINI
Resident
Gate Shaman, the Great Quentini will be performing
"How
to sneak up on machines"
"Jello
Seance"
and
Possibly a visit from "The Evil janet"
Harking
from a metaverse where we humans are the size of quarks, the Great Quentini
is the high shaman of the Gate. Without him the Gate would just be another
embedded hulk of exo-archaeological curiosity. Each "act" of Quentini is
actually a translation in form of Pythagoras secret 2049 laws of the higher
initiate. If you can reverse engineer them, then we will surely find the
portal to the lost dimension of the lesser space poets... at least, that's
what I gather from his previous performance at last months GTMBA.
DEMONOPHONIC
of
Demonophonic Ltd. is a stinking overripe pear, oozing with rotten bits.
Zakaria Von Nemitz will perform a 20 minute sketch of ambient misery and
audio rapery. Should be fun for the whole family!

KNEEL
"Stunning,
gorgeous electronic music that embraces the light as much as it does the
dark. Sometimes the music swells like it's ascending to heaven; other times
demons of chaos grab you by the throat and pummel you in their bruising<
bacchanal."

growing knowledge of space rock, psychedelic and ambient records, in a
special dj set.

the Consortium Crack Collective (ie. Gina and Mr. Space Ling). Bring any

WHO ARE WE?
The Philadelphia Ambient
Consortium is an autonomous cabal centered in Philadelphia, PA. It was
established in 1998 to unify the city's dedicated space, ambient, psychedelic
instrumental, improvisational, drone, new classical, and experimental electronic
audiophiles by providing a centralized information resource and the kernel
of a community. We hope that through this activity, the scene may grow
strong and large enough to make our work largely irrelevant. PAC(MaN) is
sponsored by the volunteer contributions of its members. While it is not
technically a nonprofit organization by U.S. law, PAC(MaN) does not seek
any gain for its organizing members. PAC(MaN) publishes the PAC(MaN) Event
Update, administers the philly_ambient@listbot discussion list, curates
the Gate to Moonbase Alpha performance series, and operates the simpletone.com
website. For more information, email spaceling@iname.com,
